FAQ

We know you have questions and we are glad that you do! We believe in transparency and we also love to share our knowledge.

Why is adoption so expensive when I can get a dog from a shelter for less?

When we bring a dog home from the shelter, we prepare the necessary items and environment to ensure a smooth transition for the foster. That includes but is not limited to the right food for that dog, toys, pee pads or belly bands, treats, a leash and collar, a dog bed and a crate. We then go to our own personal vet. All dogs get medication for kennel cough and worms. We do a full blood panel, we test for parvo, we run a fecal for Giardia. Then we take the dog to be professionally groomed. These are all the things that you would need to do should you adopt a dog directly from a shelter yourself.

Why is it necessary to complete training with your specific trainer?

Training your dog is extremely important and gives you 7 weeks of help with a professional so that we can make sure you and your new dog have everything you need. We are always here to help.

What happens when a dog is rescued?

First, the dog will see our vet to get an exam and vaccinations, full blood work, Giardia test, kennel cough meds, parvo test and given flea meds. We set up a spay or neuter appointment as soon as is medically appropriate and is also taken to the groomer. Then the dog is placed in a foster home to decompress and await their forever home.

If I am fostering and want to adopt, can I?

Absolutely! As long as it’s a good fit. You will need to fill out an application and pay the adoption fee like all adopters.

I'm afraid if I foster, I will get too attached. What should I do?

You will get attached and you may even cry when they go, however, if people don’t foster, the sad truth is, dogs die. We have all cried an ocean but if we have to be sad for a bit and know that a dog is alive because of a foster, it’s well worth it. It also helps you know if you're ready for a dog and you learn so much. Also, you get the love and fun and then can move on and do it again.

How does the rescue find adopers?

We use social media, in-person meet-n-greets, and word of mouth to find applicants. We also post our available dogs on Adopt-a-Pet, Pet Finders, Nextdoor and we ask people to share on Instagram and Facebook. We ask our fosters to post and send us cute pictures. We have potential adopters fill out an application. We do home checks before and then do a meet-n-greet. We also require all adopters to take our 7 week training class.
